Tamarind Rice ( Puliyodharai ) ( Pulihora )

Tamarind Rice ( Pulihora )



Tamarind rice is famous in South India. It is not complicated as most people think.

Follow this and you will agree.

Ingredients:

Rice: 2 Cups
Tamarind juice: 2 tbsp
Ground nuts: 1 tbsp
Bengal gram: 2 tbsp
Green chillis: 8 no's ( chopped )
Sesame powder: 1 tbsp
Jaggery: 1/2 tbsp
Curry leaves: 2 sticks
Oil: 1 tbsp
Cashew nuts: 1/2 tbsp
turmeric: as required
Salt: to taste
Coriander leaves: 1 tbsp ( Chopped )


Popu ingredients:

Cummins ,  Fenue greek, Pepper, Mustart: 1 tbsp




Method:

While cooking rice add pinch of turmeric powder and 1/2 tbsp oil.

Take a pan, add 1/2 tbsp oil. Let it heat.

Now, add Ground nuts, Bengal gram, Popu ingredients, Cashew nuts, Chopped green chillis, chopped Coriander, Curry leaves and Sesame powder. Fry and keep aside.

Now take a pan,let it heat. On low flame, add Tamarind juice, salt ( to taste ), turmeric Powder  and jaggery to tamarind juice and allow it to heat for 10 minutes.

After 10 minutes, add all ingredients that are kept aside ( after frying ) to tamarind juice. Let them heat for 5 more minutes.

After 5 minutes turn off flame. And add cooked rice to it.

Tamarind Rice is Ready.
